High-powered, easy to install device leverages 4G LTE networks and modern security protocols to give fleets improved performance

ORLANDO – Oct. 23, 2017 — PeopleNet® (, a Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) Company and leading provider of fleet mobility technology, announced the debut of the PeopleNet Connected Gateway (PCG) onboard device. Serving as an intelligent vehicle-bridging device, the PCG allows fleets the flexibility to connect to a wide range of in-cab displays and mobile devices via WiFi to 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) networks.

“The debut of the Connected Gateway marks the continued evolution of PeopleNet’s mobility solutions to connect drivers, displays and vehicles to improve safety and performance,” said Eric Witty, vice president, product for PeopleNet. “Not only is the compact Connected Gateway device designed with security in mind but it is also built to enable fleets to harness the enhanced performance and reliability of 4G LTE networks.”

The PCG can quickly be self-installed, connecting directly into the vehicle diagnostic port and mounted on the truck’s dashboard. With this streamlined installation, the PCG allows fleets to more efficiently equip their trucks when compared to previous generations of onboard computers, which are often installed in the headliner or hidden within another compartment of the cab.

In addition to the straightforward installation process, the PCG also relies on industry-leading data and device security technology. The PCG connects to the engine bus and provides encrypted communication back to PeopleNet’s cloud data center.

“There are many technology options in the marketplace but fleets want a device that is built with security and longevity in mind,” said Witty. “The Connected Gateway is a compact but powerful device that will not only help fleets realize improved efficiencies but is built on a platform designed to continually meet their business needs—both today and in the long-term.”

The PCG was introduced at American Trucking Associations (ATA) Management Conference & Exhibition (MCE), held in Orlando from October 21-25, 2017. For more detailed information on the PCG and other PeopleNet hardware solutions, visit:
