Prestigious award honors Minnesota’s top technology companies

MINNEAPOLIS — November 8, 2017 — PeopleNet® (, a Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) Company and leading provider of fleet mobility technology, announced that it was selected as a finalist in the Communications Technology category for the 2017 Tekne Awards for its Video Intelligence solution. The annual awards program, organized by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA), honors Minnesota’s best and brightest technology users and developers in innovation, development, education, commercialization and management.

“Our industry-leading Video Intelligence solution is transforming the way fleets operate, allowing them to reduce collision costs and access valuable training material to help improve driver safety and prevent future accidents,” said PeopleNet president Brian McLaughlin. “We are excited to be a Tekne finalist and proud to contribute to the innovation taking place in Minnesota’s technology community.”

The Communications Technology category honors a product or service with demonstrated impact on interactive forms of communication including the internet, mobile technologies, social media and other telecommunications-based technologies or applications. PeopleNet is one of three finalists in the category, and winners will be announced later this month.

PeopleNet’s Video Intelligence System offers tomorrow’s technology when it comes to fleet safety and security – all in one simple, fully-integrated solution. The system utilizes forward, side and rear-facing cameras to create a near 360-degree view around the cab of the truck, eliminating blind spots for both the driver and the back office. Launched in 2016, PeopleNet’s Video Intelligence was the first solution on the market to fully integrate with a fleet management system. PeopleNet’s Onboard Event Recording (OER) allows video to be triggered by company-controlled settings, including sudden acceleration or hard braking. These videos are then displayed in the PeopleNet Fleet Manager, a secure online web portal for back-office communications and carrier fleet management functions.

“Each year, MHTA seeks out companies and people leading the way in innovation in Minnesota,” said Margaret Anderson Kelliher, president and CEO of MHTA. “These advancements are changing the way people all over the world live and work, and the Tekne Awards recognize those achievements.”
